Melodie A. Robinson of Munnsville New York, age 69, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, June 28, 2024 at SUNY Upstate Hospital surrounded by her loving family and we have carefully guided her into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity.
Mel was born on April 25, 1955 in Cortland, New York, the daughter of the late Gearld and Mary (Stahl) Preston and attended McGraw schools going on to graduate from Cortland High School. She made friends and family so proud of her when she became the first person in her family to graduate from college as a returning adult student. She earned and received the highest honors and a dual Associates degree from MVCC and the Psi Chi Society Associate's Degree in Psychology and Human Services.
On August 19, 1995 Melodie Ann and John Gregor C Robinson were united in the eyes of our Lord and our families and friends for life in marriage in the Vernon Center gazebo. John emphatically states she was the greatest wife, life and business partner for the last thirty-five years a guy could ever have and she proudly served our country as John's Army National Guard Units Family Support Coordinator for many years as well.
Mel had a fighting spirit and applied it in every aspect of her life, she overcame numerous life-threatening illnesses and family tragedies, her most recent over the last year battling and completely vanquishing lung cancer with the help of the super and kind medical folks at The Upstate Cancer Center. Melodie was a social butterfly with a huge set of diner friends and could be found on a regular schedule chatting with them at Sweet Temptations, The Nothin' Fancy or other local diners each time solving many of the world's most perplexing problems over a single breakfast. She was known as Mel to many and Dommy to her grandchildren but was best known as being a great friend and advocate to anyone who needed one. Melodie spent her living and working life helping people whether they be friends, family, individuals with disabilities or their loved ones. She professionally served as both Program Coordinator and Manager among other titles for over 20 years prior to her retirement with the Madison-Cortland ARC and the New York State DSO and later provided and coordinated elder care for folks she knew and others she didn't before offering them a hand.
Her last most recent business venture was proud co-owner with her husband, partners and modern day innkeepers of the busiest and most successful Airbnb in Central New York, Bearpath Lodging, Munnsville New York with over 700 5 star reviews from folks far and wide. In her spare time she enjoyed trips to the local casinos to play and gab with her Draghon Slot Machine buddies and she loved shopping. Her greatest accomplishment, duty and love was as a Mother, seven days a week anytime of the day or night she could be found helping and caring for her children, grandchildren, friends and family, all of whom she adored. Including but not limited to her loving husband, John Gregor C. Robinson of Munnsville, two daughters, Melissa (Asher) Sinclair of Sherrill, Monica Wing and Michael Geary of Verona, grandchildren Marisa Sinclair, Keegan, Evan and Avery Geary, two brothers, Robert Preston of Virginia Beach and William Strauf of Homer, a sister Charlene Obrien of PA, sister-in-law Karen Robinson and several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces and most loved and lonely pup Maddy Girl.
