Obituary of Leneta M. Planck

Sherrill-Leneta Planck passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on March 12, 2024. 

 Leneta was born the daughter of Loretta and Lloyd Mott Sr. on November 27, 1929 in Goshen NY. She lived with her parents, two sisters (Orlean and Carolee), and one brother (Lloyd Mott Jr.) in Walden, NY before moving to Dorloo, NY. She graduated from Cobleskill High School in 1947 where she played alto sax. She attended South Valley and Dorloo Methodist Churches and also was a member of the Sharon Springs Lodge of the order of the Eastern Star. 

 Leneta married Thomas Planck in December 1949. They moved to Sherrill where they raised a family including five sons: Thomas L Planck (Claudia), Warren Planck (Gail), Kevin Planck, Gary Planck (Patricia), and Brian Planck (Pamela), and one daughter, Cheryl (John) Meyer of Georgia. The family then blossomed with numerous grand-children and great grandchildren. 

 In addition to being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Leneta was very involved in her local community. She was active in the Sherrill Kenwood Home Bureau as well as past president and lifelong member of the Sherrill Garden Club. She was a devout member of the United Methodist Women at Christ United Methodist Church in Sherrill. Leneta worked as a VVS cafeteria worker. She also was a volunteer for Karing Kitchen. Her hobbies were cooking, participating in church activities, sewing, crafting, as well as gardening and flower arranging. You could always count on her cookie jar to be filled with her delicious home-made cookies!

 She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Loretta, her sister Orlean, brother Lloyd Jr., and grandson Marcus.

 Services will be held April, 27, 2024, at Christ United Methodist Church in Sherrill, New York at 11:00 AM.  Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care at hospicecareinc.org or to The Lloyd Mott Cycling Scholarship at adkcyclingadvocates.org.
