Obituary of Lucille M. Decker

Vernon-Lucille M. Decker, age 86, of Stuhlman Road passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, January 28, 2024 in the Oneida Health Extended Care Facility after a short stay. She was born on January 16, 1938 in Rome, New York a daughter of the late Robert and Stella (Newman) Mahady and was a graduate of the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Schools. On April 27, 1957 Lucille and James R. Decker were united in marriage and shared that loving vow until James' death on June 28, 1994. Prior to her retirement Lucille was employed in the payroll department of the Oneida Limited Silversmith retiring in 1982. Lucille was a longtime member of Holy Family Church of Vernon where she could often be seen attending mass with her siblings. In her spare times she enjoyed knitting and camping. Her favorite times were spent with her family that she adored especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her four children, Patricia (Larry) Rose of Theresa, Pamela (Tim) O'Donnell of Deland, FL, Douglas (Rebecca) Decker of Bridgewater and David Decker (Cyndi Deep) of Vernon, seven beloved grandchildren and numerous adored great-grandchildren, one sister June Scoones of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, parents and her eight siblings, Robert, Mary, Charles, Tom, Ann, Francis, Willam "Bill" and Phyllis. Lucille's family will greet friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street Vernon, NY.
