Obituary of Doris S. Cole

Sherrill-Doris S. Cole, age 96 of Kinsley Street, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 in Wynn Hospital. She was born on March 5, 1927 in Canastota, New York a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Schremp) Simmons and was a graduate of the Canastota Schools. On November 13, 1948, Doris and Wesley T. Cole were united in marriage at the South Bay Chapel and shared that loving vow of over thirty-seven years together until Wesley's death on January 30, 1986. Prior to her retirement Doris was a machine operator with Oneida Limited Silversmiths retiring in 1989. Doris was a devoted member of the Plymouth Alliance Church of Sherrill where she formed many longtime friendships with other parishioners and it's Pastor. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Surviving is one granddaughter Donna Buduson, great-grandchildren, Alex, Serina, Maggie, Gabby and Sam, one brother Bernard (Nancy) Simmons of Canastota, sisters-in-law Rita Simmons of Fayetteville, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Doris was predeceased by, her son Jerry Cole, three brothers, Donald Simmons during WW II, Harry Simmons Jr., Carl Simmons, two sisters Beverley Hyland and Marie Bates, two sisters-in-law Eleanor Simmons and Sharon Simmons, brother-in-law Robert Hyland, one niece Linda, and nephew, Jeffrey. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday November 29, 2023 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Alliance Church, 169 Kinsley Street, Sherrill, NY with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Kurt Johnson officiating.
