Obituary of Gerald E. Lummis
Vernon-Gerald E. Lummis, age 84 of Peterboro Street passed away Monday morning May 2, 2022 in Upstate Hospital.
He was born on January 6, 1938 in Dumont, New Jersey a son of the late Creighton and Edwina (Lawrence) Lummis and was a graduate of the Bergenfield Schools.
Jerry proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1956-1960 and was honorably discharged.
On June 22, 1962 Jerry and Diane Law were united in marriage at the home of Diane's parents; Freeman and Florence Law and have shared this sacred vow of nearly sixty years together.
Prior to his retirement in 1994 Jerry was employed as a draftsman with the General Electric Corporation.
He was a HO Train collector and had an extensive HO train track layout and HO train collection.
Surviving are his wife, Diane L. Lummis of Vernon, three children, James Lee Lummis of Silver Springs, MD, Jodi Lynn (Thomas) Towne of Mannsville, NY, Keith D. Lummis of Vernon, two beloved twin granddaughters Brenna May Towne and Taylor Daisy Towne and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by his sister Helen Pettigrew and brother Bruce Lummis.
In keeping with Jerry's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services at this time. Burial will be at a later date in Vernon Center Cemetery, Vernon Center, NY.
