Clinton D. (Bud) Root
Sherrill-Clinton D. (Bud) Root, age 87, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 17 surrounded by his loving family. Bud was born in South Buffalo NY on March 8, 1928; son of the late Ivan C. & Esther Tross Root. He lived most of his life in Western New York relocating to Sherrill a decade ago. He owned and operated a successful business in South Buffalo for many years and greatly enjoyed interacting with his customers during his long career. Bud met the love of his life, Sally Braymiller, at a young age. The couple married in May of 1950 and shared a beautiful life for almost 65 years. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by 3 daughters: Gretchen (David) Foster of Lake Placid NY, Gail (Mark) Eisele of Roanoke Rapids NC and Greta Johnson (Joseph Spenard) of Sherrill NY. He also leaves the grandchildren he adored: Joshua (Jodie) Foster, Zachary (Ali) Foster, Abigail Eisele, Matthew Eisele, Eric Eisele, Luke Johnson, Nate Johnson & Eliza Johnson, 6 great grandchildren, his brother Kenneth (Bonnie) Root & sister Shirley (Donald) Cotton and many nieces & nephews that held a very special place in his heart.
Bud was a great outdoorsman and loved nature. He especially enjoyed his hunting trips with his brothers, special nephews, his hunting partners, son in law David and brother in law Don. Additionally he enjoyed his golfing excursions with his grandsons their father Kurt, and son in law Mark.
A memorial service to celebrate Bud's long, meaningful life will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 2:00pm at the Malecki Funeral Home, 464 Sherrill Rd, Sherrill NY with his grandson Pastor Joshua Foster officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bud's name to the Sherrill Kenwood Fire Department.
