Obituary of Betty E. Laube
Betty E. Laube, a longtime Vernon resident, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2021 with her children and family by her side. She was a resident Foltsbrook Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Herkimer, NY, for the past eighteen months.
She was born in Lebanon, South Dakota to the late Paul and Gertrude (Mikkelson) Lisby and was a graduate of South Dakota Lebanon High School. She then moved to California to join her sister where she met the love of her life, Richard E. Laube. They were united in marriage on April 14, 1946 in Lebanon and moved to Vernon, NY where she lived throughout the rest of her life. They shared a loving union for over 52 years until her husband's death on November 8,1998.
Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary in the Oneida Central School System for 29 years.
Betty and her husband were also very active members of the Vernon United Methodist Church, where they gave freely of their time.
Betty loved her cardinals, a soft winter snow and the peonies that faithfully arrived each spring with brilliant flowers and fragrance. And, she was a true fan of the New York Yankees.
Surviving are her daughter Carol Mulcrone of Van Hornesville, NY and her son Alan Laube and his wife Nora of Cottonwood, Arizona, three grandchildren – Erik, Adam and Daniel Laube – and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will take place Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vernon United Methodist Church,, 5239 W. Seneca Street, Vernon, NY. Private interment was in Maple Cemetery, Vernon, NY. Donations in her memory may be made to the Vernon United Methodist Church, 5230 W. Seneca Street, Vernon, NY 13476.
