Obituary of Teresa M. Stone

Oneida-Teresa Stone, age 97, formerly of Nelson Ave., passed away peacefully Monday afternoon May 21, 2018 at the Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Facility of Rome.

She was born on November 29, 1920 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Isabel (Spatafore) Spine and was a graduate of East Fairmont High School, WV.

After graduating high school Teresa worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Fairmont, WV.

On July 10, 1948 Teresa and Harold A. Stone were united in marriage in Grace Episcopal Church of Utica and shared that union of sixty years together until Harold's death on November 12, 2008.

After moving to Oneida she was employed as a circuit board processor with General Electric of Syracuse and after retirement from GE Teresa worked for Lojo Technology of Oneida.

Teresa enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Her favorite times were spent with her family.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Champney of Vernon, one daughter-in-law Jean Stone of Durhamville, seven grandchildren, Denise French, Tammy French, Melanie Stone, Aaron Stone, Michael (Michelle) Champney, Kevin (Jenn) Champney and Tricia (Mark) Kowalski, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Teresa was predeceased by her husband Harold A. Stone, son John D. Stone and grandson Stephen L. Champney.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bethany Gardens for their compassionate care shown to Teresa during her stay at the facility.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Mrs. Stone's funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral Home with Pastor Robert Catherwood Jr. officiating.
