Phyllis (Hatch) Hartwell

ONEIDA – Phyllis (Hatch) Hartwell, 76, of Fultz Drive in Oneida, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.

Born on September 1, 1941, in Oneida, N.Y., Phyllis was the daughter of the late Burrell and Viola (Bower) Hatch. Phyllis graduated from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in 1959 and attended Wagner College, Staten Island, NY.

On April 26, 1991, she was united in marriage to Michael (Dave) Hartwell at Plymouth Alliance Church in Sherrill.

Phyllis was confirmed in and an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Verona, where she served on various committees. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement. She was an avid crafter, always taking joy in learning new crafting skills for the creation of the many gifts that she made for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include, her husband Michael (Dave) Hartwell; her son, Jeff Williams (Kim); her daughter, Jodi Delapaz; her stepdaughters, Barb Wallace (Dave), and Lee Ann Locario and her companion, Chris Marshall; her grandchild, Nick Williams (Jerrica); her step-grandchildren, Reneé, Sarah, Danielle, Anthony, Jordan, Joe, David, Nick and Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Lyla Ray and Leo Burrell; several great step-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her sister, Carol (Paul) Doornbos. Phyllis was predeceased by her step-son, David W. Hartwell; and her step-grandson, David Wallace.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 30, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St Peter’s Lutheran Church on Old Oneida Road in Verona. A memorial service to honor Phyllis’ life will be held at 1:00 pm, immediately following calling hours at the Church. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Sherrill.
