Lillian B. Meus
Rome-Lillian B. Meus, age 90, formerly of 110 Rose Lane and more recently of the Bethany Gardens passed away peacefully Wednesday morning November 30, 2016 in Rome Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 17, 1926 in Vernon, New York a daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Mayhew) Bartell and received her culinary degree from Morrisville Community College.
On February 10, 1979 Lillian and John Meus were united in marriage and shared this union until May 14, 2004.
Lillian cooked for many years in and around the Rome area, namely, Elks Liberty, Grand Sweets Shop, Rome Nursing Homes, the Shady Grill of Vernon and the Sherrill Diner.
Her memberships included, the Rome Chapter 274 Women of the Moose where she served as a past Chaplin and a past president and Lillian was a member of the Rome Polish Club for many years.
She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, spending time with her family whom she loved very much.
Surviving are her two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ken and Leona Newman of Vernon and Florida, David Newman of Rome, her grandchildren, Alan, Aaron, Raymond “Joe”, Robbie and Shawn, several great-grandchildren, one sister Beverly Tegtmeyer of Sherrill, niece Terri and nephew Mark.
Lillian was predeceased by two sons, Raymond and Roger Newman.
The family would like to express their many thanks to Beverly, Terry and Mark for their kindness and support shown to Lillian.
