Obituary of M. Jeannette Gostling

M. Jeannette Gostling Sherrill- M. Jeannette Gostling, age 90, formerly of Ransom Ave., passed away peacefully Monday evening February 22, 2016 at The Harding Nursing Home with her loving family at her side. She was born on September 5, 1925 in Sherrill, New York a daughter of the late James W. and Margaret (Divine) Mc Laughlin and was a graduate of Sherrill High School. On November 30, 1946 Jeannette was united in marriage at St. Helena's Church with C. Edward Gostling and the couple shared that vow until Mr. Gostling's death on February 24, 1987. Prior to her retirement in 1990 Jeannette was a supervisor in the brocade department of Oneida Limited Silversmith. Her memberships included St. Helena's Church, St. Helena's Choir for many years; she acted as a past president of St. Helena's Alter Rosary Society, she volunteered at the Oneida Healthcare ECF for over twenty years, she was a member of the YMCA Swim group and was a past president of the Sherrill American Legion Post 230 Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, knitting, pitch and her word search and traveling after her retirement. Jeannette had a love for animals, especially her cats and dogs. Everyone will remember her delicious Sunday morning donuts!! Surviving are her children and their spouses, Theresa (John) Sullivan of Sherrill, Karen (Gary) Campbell of Canastota, Fred (Rebecca) Gostling of Oneida and Ann Marie (Don) Avery of Vernon, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jeannette was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Suits and Kathleen Henderson, brothers, William, Fred, Jack and Richard McLaughlin. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jeannette's life on Saturday February 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helena's Church, 210 Primo Ave., Sherrill, NY. Burial will be in Stockbridge Cemetery, Stockbridge, New York.
