Obituary of Jerome F. Blair

Jerome F. Blair Verona-Jerome F. Blair, age 96, of Main Street passed away peacefully Friday evening January 8, 2016 in the Oneida Healthcare Center. He was born on February 2, 1919 in Baltimore, MD., a son of the late Leo F. and Nellie C. (Owens) Blair. After graduating from St. Martin's Elementary School Jerome went on to attend a private school in Baltimore and then attended at the Seminary at St. Charles College. During WW II Jerome proudly served his country with the Army Air Corp from 1941-1945. Jerome was united in marriage with the former Elizabeth Berg on May 23, 1943 at the Army-Air Force Base at Peyote, Texas and the couple shared that loving union until her death on March 29, 1985. Prior to his retirement Jerome was employed as a stock clerk with Chicago Pneumatic. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Verona VFW. Surviving are his two daughters, Barbara DeKay and JoAnn Baker both of Verona, five grandchildren, Todd (Charity) Baker, Candice (James) Paravati, John (Tracy) Baker, Chad Baker and Brittany DeKay, three great-grandchildren, Trinity Baker, Autumn Porter and Derik Baker. Jerome was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth and a daughter Gail Robinson on October 17, 2013. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Main Street, Verona with Rev. Edmond Castronovo celebrating.
